CIMPOR Global Holdings is the principal holding structure that oversees the strategic management and growth vision of CIMPOR, a company with a deep-rooted legacy in the cement and construction materials industry. With origins dating back to the late 19th century and founded upon the establishment of Portugal’s first modern cement plant, CIMPOR has evolved into a significant global player in industrial development and sustainability.
The production journey that began in 1894 at the Alhandra Plant on the banks of the Tejo River has, over the years, been shaped by innovation, international expansion, and industry leadership. Established in 1976 through the consolidation of seven cement plants in Portugal, CIMPOR grew throughout the following decades into a global brand with operations spanning Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America.
Under the umbrella of CIMPOR Global Holdings today lies a robust industrial ecosystem operating across multiple sectors, including energy, battery manufacturing, and the production and commercialisation of cement and cement-based products. The partnership structure initiated with the OYAK Group in 2019 entered a new era in 2024, when Taiwan Cement Corporation (TCC) – now known as TCC Group Holdings – acquired all of CIMPOR’s assets in Portugal and Cape Verde.
TCC Group Holdings is recognised as one of the world’s leading industrial groups, investing heavily in low-carbon technologies, renewable energy solutions, and sustainable production models. With this vision integrated into CIMPOR, the company has become the third-largest player in the global cement market, gaining a renewed, innovation-driven perspective that is shaping the future of the industry.
Today, CIMPOR Global Holdings strengthens its influence across the global arena with a strong operational structure, a sustainability-focused production approach, and a commitment to creating value for communities, operating across 13 countries and 3 continents.
Our mission is to unite CIMPOR’s 130-year expertise with TCC Group Holdings’ technological strength and sustainability vision, working toward a more innovative, more efficient, and more environmentally responsible cement and construction materials industry.
